A promotional stunt in which people burst balloons to get vouchers for a new smartphone went terribly wrong when people turned up with BB guns and even a spear.
Twenty people were injured during the event in Seoul for LG’s new G2 smartphone.
The company released 100 helium balloons, each with a free smartphone voucher, at the so-called G in the Cloud event, which took place in a park in the Korean capital.
The phones, which are worth £550, would be given to people in possession of the voucher, the company said.
As the event got underway people raced with their weapons to grab the smartphone vouchers hanging from the balloons and in the surge the injuries occurred.
LG has cancelled a series of events promoting the handset as a result of the incident.
