Harrison Ford has said that Ender’s Game author Orson Scott Card’s opposition to gay marriage is not an issue for him.
In 2009 Card joined the board of the National Organization for Marriage, which opposes same-sex marriage. The film became the subject of controversy and reports surfaced of film fans threatening to boycott Ender’s Game when it was released. Card then deemed the issue of gay marriage ‘moot’ after the US Supreme Court struck down an integral part of the Defence of Marriage Act.
Ford, who stars in the film version of the 1985 novel, was speaking at a Comic-Con news conference this week, revealing that he felt Card’s anti-gay sentiments stood separately from the film and while he disagreed with Card’s views, it wasn’t his place to discuss them.
