Luxor Temple Wall Defaced By Chinese Teen Who Carves Name into Egypt’s Luxor Temple. The graffiti, which roughly translates as “Ding Jinhao was here”, was spotted at a temple dedicated to Amenhotep III, and sparked outrage in China, coming just weeks after Wang Yang, a senior Communist Party official, had urged Chinese tourists to improve their behaviour overseas. He had warned that “uncivilised behaviour” — such as talking loudly and spitting — was damaging the country’s reputation.
Internet users began a country-wide search for the perpetrator, prompting dozens of other individuals named Ding Jinhao to publicly declare their innocence and offer proof that they had never been to Egypt.
