Police: 12 Supervisors Didn’t Take Proper Control During Chase

CLEVELAND–  A dozen Cleveland police supervisors face disciplinary charges related to a police chase that ended in a deadly shooting last fall.

The supervisors could face punishments that range from a written reprimand to termination.

“This particular evening we’ve identified 12 supervisors during this pursuit that didn’t engage and take control the way they should have,” said Cleveland Police Chief Michael McGrath.

In a Tuesday afternoon news conference, McGrath announced that 12 police supervisors face charges related to a chase Nov. 29, 2012 that ended in a deadly shooting.

“This is not a happy occasion for anybody. This is very difficult; it’s difficult for the victims who died; it’s difficult for the families; it’s difficult for the community and it’s very difficult for the Division of Police,” said the chief.
