Father loses life savings at a fair – left with just a stuffed banana with dreadlocks

You expect to come home a few quid lighter after taking your children to the fair.

But close to £1,900 is a bit more than most of us would budget for coconuts and candy floss.

That’s what Henry Gribbohm spent when he took his youngsters to a carnival – emerging at the end of a day of fruitless gambling with nothing but a novelty giant banana with dreadlocks and a Rasta hat.

The 30-year-old was trying to win an Xbox Kinect by throwing balls into buckets in a game called Tubs Of Fun, at a Fiesta Shows event in Manchester, New Hampshire, US.

He said it seemed easy when he was practising but when he began playing for real, the balls kept popping out.

After blowing $300 (£193), he went home to get his $2,600 (£1,679) life savings in a bid to recoup his losses – but found he was hurling…
